Torqbyte PM3 is an advanced fuel pump driver module designed to overcome the challenges of increased fueling in returnless fuel injection systems where the ECM and the factory fuel pump control module (FPCM) perform closed loop control of the fuel system line pressure. In the factory configuration, the stock FPCM is only able to drive the in-tank fuel pumps the vehicle was originally equipped with. Higher capacity aftermarket in-tank fuel pumps could draw more current than the factory LPFP control module is able to supply.
Such aftermarket pumps can overload the factory FPCM and cause it to overheat. This overloading and overheating results in DTCs (e.g. P0231), Check Engine Light (CEL) illumination and intermittent pump operation which causes a drop in fuel line pressure thus defeating the whole purpose behind running a upgraded fuel pumps. PM3 provides the best and most effective solution to this problem.
PM3 installs between the FPCM and the upgraded fuel pumps to relieve the factory system of the current supply role. PM3 is capable of continuously supplying the aftermarket fuel pumps with up to 36A of current.
For extreme set-ups, a dual PM3 setup can supply up 72A of current to the aftermarket pumps.
While the PM3 does all the heavy lifting in terms of supplying the required current to the aftermarket LPFP, its electronics replicate the exact PWM control signal being generated by the FPCM. Torqbyte's innovative technical solution implemented within the PM3 allows the ECM and FPCM to maintain full control of the aftermarket fuel system operation and maintain the closed-loop fuel pressure control mechanism that the vehicle was originally designed with. This crucial feature is something that _none_ of the other fuel control "upgrades" currently on the market are able to offer.
The supplied Plug-n-Play harness is designed to eliminate cutting, splicing or disturbing the factory wiring. It inserts in-line with the factory X420 junction located next to the EVAP canister.
This adapter picks up the factory fuel pump drive signals and sends them to the PM3(s) while passing through the other fuel tank signals (level, pressure, etc.)
The Plug-n-Play adapter uses OEM GM connectors with proper wire seals and properly-crimped contact terminals. All wiring used in its construction is SAE J1127 TXL automotive wire.
Fuel Sender Connection
The factory fuel sender wiring comes with 12AWG wires. In order to minimize line losses and ensure maximum electrical power transfer to the fuel pumps, the Torqbyte kit comes with a replacement adapter equipped with SAE J1127 10AWG TXL automotive wire.
About the PM3
PM3 is easy to install and comes equipped with a built-in 40A fuse.
On the outside, Torqbyte PM3 is enclosed in a thermally-conductive, CNC machined aluminum enclosure that is hard anodized for maximum durability.

Torqbyte PM3 is supplied with SAE J1127 10AWG TXL automotive wire with annealed stranded copper conductors and premium-grade abrasion, chemical and moisture resistant, high temperature Crosslinked Polyethylene insulation.
PM3 presents itself as a light electrical load to the FPCM. The FPCM interprets this as a system fault caused by a disconnected fuel pump (open circuit). Although there are no noticeable fueling or driveability issues, the FPCM requests a DTC which will cause the ECM to illuminate the CEL.
There are 3 options available to deal with this issue:
1. FPCM Upgrade Service
Ship your existing FPCM to Torqbyte for an upgrade procedure.
Note: It is assumed that the customer-furnished FPCM is a known-good unit. The upgrade procedure focuses only on the FPCM circuitry related to CEL illumination. We do not fully test customer-furnished FPCMs for preexisting problems, defects or unrelated faults nor do we guarantee the modified FPCM's operation beyond the scope of this upgrade. If you are unsure about the state of your FPCM, we recommend starting with a brand new FPCM.
FPCM Removal (Not Applicable to the Wagon)
If you are opting for our FPCM upgrade service, you will need to remove the FPCM from the passenger side of the trunk so you can ship it to us. DO NOT send us the plastic bracket that the FPCM snaps into. This bracket is not a part of the FPCM and is not required for this upgrade. Including it in the shipment will unnecessarily increase the shipping costs.
Note: You must disconnect the battery, BEFORE removing or reinstalling the FPCM.
Note: Unless you are wearing a grounded wrist-strap, avoid touching any of the pins in the FPCM's connector in order to reduce the likelihood of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) induced damage.
Shipping your FPCM to Torqbyte
Cost of shipping the module to us is the responsibility of the customer. We recommend that customers use USPS, but any carrier is acceptable. Regardless of the carrier selected, we recommend that the customer pays for a tracked service so that all parties can monitor the status of the shipment at all times.
You should ensure that the FPCM is well protected, but try to keep the package volume to a minimum to ensure your shipping costs are kept as low as possible, since shipping box volume has more impact on price than weight.

We are located in Canada. If you are sending us an FPCM from the U.S., you will probably have to fill out some additional paperwork that needs to be attached to your shipment. This paperwork is usually called a Commercial Invoice and its look and layout vary slightly from shipping company to shipping company. Here are a few examples for a few popular shipping carriers:
It is VERY IMPORTANT that this paperwork CLEARLY states that this is a Warranty/Service item. The value of the item should also be marked very low since this is a used item that you are not selling to us. Paperwork that fails to clearly state this is a Warranty/Service shipment or paperwork that shows a high dollar value could be regarded by customs as you having sold us an FPCM (which is not the case) and will cause the shipping company to charge us tax, duty and brokerage fees for an item that doesn't belong to us. Any such shipments will be refused and will be returned to sender at their own expense. Please contact us if you require clarification or assistance with this step.
Upgrade Turnaround Time
We perform all CTS-V FPCM upgrades within 2 business days.
FPCM Return Shipment
We charge a flat fee of $15US for return shipping via USPS (2-4 business days) and $35US for overnight shipping via DHL for destinations in the US and Canada.
2. New FPCM Purchase
Purchase a brand new modified FPCM from Torqbyte.
Note: Customers who opt for a brand new upgraded FPCM will need specify which of the three part numbers below is required and will need to have the new module installed at their local GM dealership in order to have the technicians program the new FPCM and "marry it" to the car's ECM. There will almost certainly be charge for this service, which is the sole responsibility of the customer. Customers who send us their existing module will be able to plug it back in and be up and running without requiring a trip to the dealer.
There is no warranty offered on customer-supplied FPCMs unless it can be shown that the reported issue is directly attributable to the upgrade performed by Torqbyte. We offer a full replacement warranty for a period of 30 days on brand new FPCMs procured through a local GM dealer and upgraded by Torqbyte. Before honoring any warranty claims on brand new FPCMs, we require the customer to send us the GM Service Programming System (SPS) code provided to the GM technician when the upgraded FPCM was reprogrammed (i.e. keyed to the car's ECM) at the dealership.
3. Tuning Software
Some ECM tuning software packages allow the user to disable the FPCM open-circuit DTC. If you have access to such a tuning software suite, there is no need to consider Options 1 and 2 above.
